The coffee was excellent, breakfast had sweet options, and the host and staff were friendly. There’s private parking too. Some apartments face the main road, and a simple ventilation setup bringing air in from the courtyard would make those rooms much better. For anyone renting a car in Palermo, I’d suggest getting full protection from the rental company. The "full car protection" sold by airlines can be tricky: if the car is damaged, you may still have to pay 1200-1500 euros yourself, with only the amount above that covered. A smaller car is advisable if you’re using Google Maps.

The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and the little terrace was a nice surprise. There’s art everywhere, the place has lovely energy, and the owner was very kind. It’s close to the center, and I’d recommend it. My one small gripe was the sweet breakfast, which had no fruit. I’m not much for sweet breakfasts, though my husband enjoyed his treat. Also, the hot water made the plastic coffee cups twist around, so we had to use a few to support each other and keep from burning our hands.

It’s a nice, clean place, full of antique paintings and other things, and the receptionist was friendly. He has an antique store downstairs. The breakfast was sort of a joke, though. We paid extra for the "whirlpool", but it was loud and more frightening than relaxing, making noises like some Lovecraftian creature. It’s basically a regular bathtub with extra bubble makers. The guys in the next room weren’t fans either. 😉
