Gran Cancelliere BB

Avoid this place. Like other people have said in Google comments, they may cancel just days before your stay over a supposed card issue if you booked well ahead to get a good price. Our card worked fine at other hotels in Sicily. Don’t book a room here.

They cancelled our reservation at the last minute, saying the card didn’t work. It had worked for all our other bookings in Sicily, and we even offered a second card. From what I’ve seen, this may not be the first time they’ve used that excuse. Avoid booking here if you need to be sure you’ll have somewhere to sleep.

Don’t stay here. My card supposedly wouldn’t go through Booking, so she sent me a payment link. The room is on the ground floor of an office building, with no soundproofing, and we could hear everything happening on the street. The mattress was so worn it sagged in the middle, and we found worms on the pillow. The bathroom is off a corridor where the light didn’t work, making it very difficult to lock and unlock our room or use the bathroom when its light also stopped working. It felt like a scam. Don’t come here.

We had a confirmed booking through booking.com for several months, then the hotel cancelled at short notice and never responded to our messages or calls. They said the credit card wasn’t valid, though we use it several times a day, including for hotel and rental car bookings. I suspect the hotel wanted to charge more after prices rose from the good deal we’d booked early. Other travellers on tripadvisor described similar experiences. Stay away.
