The place felt safe and secure, and shops were close by. It wasn’t far from the center either. Our room was a good size, the beds were comfortable, and the host was accommodating. The balcony was shared, though that didn’t really bother us.

A very clean place, and handy for getting into central Palermo.

The book collection caught my eye, especially the books on Sicilian art and culture and a vintage Dostoevsky edition I remembered reading as a teenager at my father’s home. There were books in the shared space, the rooms, and even the bathroom. My room was quiet despite the central location, and the accommodation was clean. Itinera Virginia is on historic Via della Libertà, a useful spot for walking around, shopping, and getting public transport from the airport or train station. Breakfast was fine, with a decent choice of teas and spreads. The service was thoughtful too: they helped me recover glasses I’d left on the bedside table on a previous visit. Picking up the keys was easy, and there was a tasty surprise for ice cream lovers. The entrance gate, shared stairwell, apartment, and bedroom keys had colored markers, but this time I wasn’t given the key to help me identify them. Last visit: March 12, 2025.

Awful stay. The room was reached from a balcony, and the bathroom was in terrible shape: hair everywhere, a black tub, dust all over, and a broken sink. The towels were tiny and really worn out, and the cups in the room were dirty. In the morning the coffee was bitter, with no sugar at all. The machine had no water either, so without the water we’d bought the night before, we couldn’t have made coffee.
