Teatro Politeama House

The apartment was dirty and run-down, with none of the comforts you'd expect. It’s on the fourth floor with no elevator, and there’s one more flight of stairs after a little gate that doesn’t provide proper privacy. One morning, after we were already staying there, a staff member came into the apartment saying she needed to get some rags. There was no kitchen or washing machine, and the bathroom drain didn’t work properly. If you flushed toilet paper, waste came back up. The air conditioners drained condensation into containers that had to be emptied every couple of hours, or the room could flood. Given the high cost and all the usual things missing from the apartment, we felt cheated. The owners and staff were very rude, and then had the nerve to call and threaten us. I strongly recommend staying away.

I never actually got to stay, so I can’t really rate the place. I booked the suite at the last minute around 4:00 PM, then was told, without any advance warning, that the room wouldn’t be ready until 7:00 PM. I didn’t want to wait and asked for a refund, but was told that wasn’t possible, so I waited for them to clean it. Then the manager messaged me on WhatsApp to say I had to check out at 9:00 AM the next day because other guests were arriving after a long trip and needed the room. Absurd, honestly. Luckily, the manager eventually agreed to refund me.

I found the B&B very good when I got there a few days after booking. The room was clean, and the girl who looked after the room cleaning was really kind. Before my visit, I’d seen how nice and welcoming the rooms looked, so I booked one and spoke with the manager and an employee to let them know when I’d check in. The manager was kind from the start. It’s a lovely B&B and I’d say give it a try.

I was happy with my stay after spending the day in the room and talking with the manager. The B&B itself is very nice and right in central Palermo. I’d seen the reviews when I booked and wanted to cancel, but after I spoke with the manager, he explained that renovations were going on during the period covered by those Google reviews. He was very kind.
