From the rooftop and courtyard to the restaurants, markets, and sights nearby, there’s plenty to enjoy without going far. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated, and very clean, and breakfast has a good selection. Staff were professional, though I did feel some of the lower-ranking workers were treated a bit poorly. Check-out time is strict, and staying past it means paying an hourly fee. It’s a beautiful little hidden gem in the center of Palermo, and I almost hate sharing that.

The thing that stayed with me most was how personal everything felt. The small family team made the experience thoughtful and welcoming, with a real sense of luxury. L’Hôtelier is set in an old historic building in central Palermo, and the rooms are both stylish and properly comfortable. There’s also a relaxed rooftop bar where you can sit late and watch the city lights. I’d happily come back.

Breakfast in the courtyard garden was lovely, with plenty of continental options and high-quality ingredients. The staff were friendly, and they seemed to love the hotel as much as we did. Our room was one of the nicest I’ve stayed in: quirky and pretty, built into an arched section of the old walls, with every bit of space used well. The bed was comfortable, and there was even a small window through the two-foot-thick wall with a sea view. Upstairs, the terrace has a lovely sea view, a jacuzzi pool set high above the ground, a bar, and sunbeds. It’s a short walk to the promenade and the open park across the road by the sea. The whole hotel has so much character and charm. I’d go back and stay longer.

The hotel has what you need for a short Palermo visit, including a rooftop pool and a place to eat and drink. The staff were very helpful, and the facilities were excellent. It’s a shame about the immediate surroundings, though, where rubbish from nearby bars and restaurants had been left uncollected.

We slept well every night in the very comfortable beds, despite hearing a little traffic from our spacious front-facing room. The buffet breakfast was lovely, and the rooftop terrace has a small pool and a bar. The bar is usually open daily from 18:00 to 23:00, though it may close earlier when it’s quiet. This small boutique hotel has 11 rooms and looks out over the waterfront. It’s a short walk to Palermo’s historic centre and main street, with lots of restaurants nearby. A hidden gem, highly recommended.
