La Querencia

The neighborhood was a real highlight, with lots to see and do and a great restaurant in the alley to the suite. The food was good and the service friendly. The stay itself had several problems: for most of our visit, only one bathroom had hot water, and housekeeping made the beds without changing the sheets or cleaning the bathrooms and floors. We couldn't use the courtyard because of scaffolding, dust, and a smelly portable toilet. Two room door knobs didn't work either. We rented it as a suite with a common area, but laundry service staff came through the common area and hallways without warning, leaving four large bags of other people's dirty laundry in the suite for two days. They returned to collect them without notice, too. It could be a wonderful holiday spot once the work is finished and these issues are sorted out.

Right in the city center.

The room itself was clean and tidy, and the service man was kind and friendly. It's a nice place, which made what happened at check-in all the more frustrating. We booked on the afternoon of the 13th and called to ask about collecting the keys, but were told there was a code instead. When we arrived around midnight, we couldn't get in. With a small child, we spent an hour trying, calling the numbers provided, but nobody answered. In my experience, customer service has always been available elsewhere. We paid €62 plus a €12 check-in fee and were still left outside until some girls arrived and let us in with them.

We slept well despite the street noise, and the beds were comfortable. The room is right in the center, only minutes from Teatro Massimo and the lively pedestrian area. The bathroom was spacious and clean, though finding the entrance was a bit confusing.
