Massimo Plaza Hotel

What made our five days at this small, family-owned hotel special was the staff. Christian, Pietro, Francesca, Fernando and the two others whose names I didn’t get were so kind and hospitable. They treated us like family throughout, and their warmth went beyond that of any five-star hotel I’ve stayed at. The owners should be proud of them. I miss everyone, and I’d stay here again. We spent three days here at the start of our Sicily trip and another two at the end. It was exactly the experience I wanted. You’re on the plaza, across from the opera house, surrounded by restaurants and shops in the middle of Palermo’s day and night life. One evening was a little loud, but we didn’t mind the kids dancing in the street. It was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh pastries, excellent meats and bread, and hot coffee, cappuccino, tea and juice. You could eat in your room or in the shared room, and order eggs too. This isn’t the Ritz or a Hilton. It’s a small Italian family-run hotel, and if that’s the experience you want, I know you won’t be disappointed. You should experience the hospitality of the hotel and its staff.

We especially liked breakfast, served in a private, cozy atmosphere in the hotel living room. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the location is ideal for sightseeing in Palermo, right in the center and next to the theatre. We had a delightful stay at Massimo Plaza Hotel.

The Teatro view from our room was lovely, and breakfast arrived there each morning, fresh and delicious. We also had plenty of space, and everything was clean and comfortable. A charming hotel right in central Palermo, with friendly, helpful staff throughout. We'd happily recommend it.

From our Superior double room we could look out over the theatre and its square, and the room had lovely light, authentic Italian decor, comfortable bedding, and plenty of space. The hotel sits right in the old town, within walking distance of the main sights, and gives you a real taste of Sicilian hospitality. Breakfast was generous and made with good-quality products. It usually came to the room, though we could ask to have it in the little lounge instead. The place is comfortable and well equipped, but it feels old and needs some updating. The bedroom carpets around the windows and the bathrooms need renovation. The lounge has useful equipment, but its dated furniture and decor don't make it inviting. A few basic updates could make it a much more welcoming space and bring the hotel closer to its four-star rating.
