Splendid Hotel La Torre

The big pool and beach right on the property are lovely, though there’s a better public beach about a 10-minute walk away. Some rooms look out over the beach, and breakfast, which was included, was probably better than most. The place is beautiful overall, but the rooms are below par. The bathroom is cramped for two, there’s just one towel hook, and you can hit your head on the shower door handle while sitting on the toilet. The built-in hair dryer is only 4-500 watts.

We felt unwelcome from the start, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. Our room had dirty floors, toothpaste and pubic hair on the bathroom counter, peeling paint, and cobwebs on the ceiling. The balcony door wouldn't shut and there was no Wi-Fi. When we asked to move, the first desk staff member didn't believe us, so we waited for someone to come up and check. Another person eventually helped, but getting the manager's approval took nearly 20 minutes. Breakfast was disappointing too. We arrived right at 7:00, when it began, but the eggs were cold and runny, the bacon was cold and undercooked, and the coffee on the tables was cold. On our second day the juice machine only had water. We were traveling with a large tour company, and I'll let them know about the service and the hotel's condition.

The sea view is incredible, and the staff are laid-back and helpful. The rooms could use some improvements, and breakfast was pretty average, but I've stayed here twice and would come back a third time if I visited Palermo again. If you know what to expect in Sicily, the hotel has a relaxed feel. For me, it's the nicest and safest place in Mondello, though I still wish they'd make a few improvements.

What made the stay for us was the atmosphere and how friendly the staff were. They shared tips that helped make our visit go well. The location, service, breakfast, and à la carte restaurant all worked perfectly for us as a couple. If you're planning to spend the whole vacation in your room, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. But if you want a wonderful atmosphere around you, this is a great choice. I'd read both good and bad reviews beforehand, and people should think about what they're looking for.
