Hotel Girasole

I picked the Grande Paradiso 3 room, which was spacious, very clean, and had a great view from a good-sized balcony. I like staying away from the port, so the location worked well for me. This is a cute, welcoming, family-owned hotel, and the staff were so friendly, especially Rita. I highly recommend it and will definitely come back.

We wish we'd listened to the reviews and stayed away. The facilities were unkempt and unclean, and the women who own the hotel came across as hostile, ill-tempered, and dishonest. They wanted cash and got angry when we tried to pay by card. When the card worked with every other merchant, they still claimed it was invalid, and we felt they were using tricks to make us pay cash. They yelled and screamed, and even got physical trying to get their way. We seriously thought they were both off their meds.

The extra bed was just a dirty, horrible thing on the floor that nobody could sleep on. The room had cockroaches and insects, and they didn't clean. We had to leave and pay for another hotel, and they were super impolite and gave us no money back. The worst hotel experience I've ever had. NEVER GO TO THIS HOTEL.

This felt more like a house than a proper hotel, and the whole stay was draining and unpleasant. It wasn't maintained or kept clean. The mother and daughter running it seemed volatile and disturbed, often shouting at each other, the neighbours, and even guests.
