Baia Paraelios

A great place, with good entertainment.

The entertainment was the one part of the village that really deserved praise: all four performers were fabulous. The youngest, Davide and Nives, were lovely and very good; Nadia was engaging, and Antonio was a superb head entertainer. My partner, our two children aged 11 and 15, and I stayed for nine days and left only a few days ago. The rest was disappointing. The rooms and several shared areas needed upkeep and renovation, including the bathrooms by the restaurant and beach and the changing rooms. Only one of our two air conditioners worked, though luckily it wasn't extremely hot. Room cleaning was only just adequate. Sheets were changed twice in nine days, and towels only three times after I asked. On the second change they replaced mine and my partner's, but not the children's. This year there was apparently no TV in any room, and the bazaar for essentials was gone too, leaving almost nothing available. With no car, that was inconvenient. Even the only bar left, when there used to be at least two, sometimes had no water or ice cream. The beach was poorly organized and not very clean. Over the last two days people were suddenly moved around, causing frustration and arguments, including for us because we'd been in the front row of three. Meals were another major problem: little choice, especially at breakfast, and anyone with an intolerance was out of luck. The menu repeated, and the food was sometimes terrible, though I don't blame the kitchen staff. The ingredients and portions were the issue. There wasn't enough for everyone, and I hate to think what it would be like around August 15 at peak season. Lines for pasta and side dishes took at least 10-15 minutes, and main courses could take 25-30. We barely saw fruit or dessert during our nine days. It's a shame, because the village could offer so much, but only the entertainment was worth saving. Paraelios is like someone with a Ferrari driving it like an old Cinquecento, with all respect to the car.

The entertainment team was the reason we managed to rest and have fun despite the uncomfortable room. Antonio was a real professional and seemed capable of running the whole place. Davide and Nadia, though young, were excellent with the kids' club, and my children had a great time. Nives is a fantastic athlete and always got me involved in the activities I enjoy. We won't be back, though. I had booked a SEA VIEW AREA room for 13 days, but it wasn't what we got. Rosanna at reception curtly told me, with an annoyed and pedantic manner, that "company policy didn't allow for any relocations," which wasn't true. The room was damp and run-down, with no table or closet. Its toilet drain was broken and leaked with every flush from the first day, and the bidet was broken too. The sewer smell lasted our whole stay. Mina at reception was kind and understanding, and thankfully called maintenance, who fixed the issue on day two. The property has a breathtaking view, with a restaurant, bar, and restrooms right on the beach. If they'd given us a better room like some other guests got after a fist bump or an unpleasant argument, we'd certainly have returned. Instead, we felt cheated by "company policy."

The staff were consistently kind, cheerful, and ready to help, at reception and in the restaurant alike. The food was excellent, and the wait staff paid close attention to what we needed. We also loved the entertainment, which was lively without being intrusive. The activities and themed evenings kept the kids having a blast and made our holiday more fun. The property itself is beautiful and green, just steps from the sea, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. A great choice for a relaxing holiday with plenty to do. We highly recommend it and will be back!
