Grand Hotel de la Ville

The only thing I’d change is the amount of fragrance used in and around the hotel. Apart from that, it was lovely: clean rooms, tasty food, and staff who were kind and helpful.

Stefano at reception and Alaya, the doorman and bellman, made this stay memorable. They went far beyond what we expected, especially Stefano, whose service was unlike anything I can recall. The hotel is an easy walk from the old town, with spacious rooms, a good location, reasonable prices, and the convenience of onsite parking. My room was huge, but there was no coffee or espresso machine. The shower also had nowhere to set things, so I had to leave everything on the floor. Wi-Fi was painfully slow, possibly because of where my room was. Still, Grand Hotel De La Ville is a great place to stay in Parma.

Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh fruit, regional ham, and lots of other good food. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in at a hotel. The room was clean and roomy, with a bathroom that had plenty of space. At around 140€ a night, the price felt spot on. You can walk to Parma’s main sights, and there’s a mall with a supermarket and restaurants just around the corner. Definitely recommend it!

I’m here often for work, and the staff are a big reason I keep coming back. The front desk team, bartenders, and maintenance crew are all great at making you feel at home, sorting out problems, and offering suggestions. Kudos to Marcello and Fulbio! The hotel restaurant is delicious. Breakfast is fine, with the usual Italian hotel choices, and they’ll make your coffee when you ask. Rooms and bathrooms are a good size for Italy, though the bedding feels a bit firm and the pillows thin to me. That’s personal preference. The location works really well too, near the city centre, restaurants, and the galleria, and right across from a supermarket. I love this hotel and highly recommend it.
