Palazzo Domanto Parma Apartments

We arrived in Parma around 2 pm, but even though the room was ready, we couldn't check in until 2:30. Check-in was late, check-out early, and there was no flexibility. We were put in “La Pilotta,” the first ground-floor room as you enter the building, without being asked which room we wanted. There was no privacy: we heard people coming and going, talking in the corridor as if they were inside our room, and guests going out to smoke. The door kept banging, and the noise was so loud we barely slept. There was no reception, and although we texted the hotel during the night, we got no reply until the next morning, after we'd already lost most of our sleep. We complained to the owners, but nothing was resolved. They offered a discount for a future stay, which didn't seem to show much concern for how awful our visit had been. It felt like a hostel, and I didn't enjoy my stay in Parma. The bed was uncomfortable, with a very hard mattress that could leave you waking up with back problems. We also heard other guests when the bathroom door was left open.

The bed was rock hard, and the front room made for a poor stay and a waste of money. That's the La Pilotta room, right beside the front door, so you can hear everything. With the bathroom door open, sounds from other guests carry through too. Lovely to wake up to a man hawking up spit first thing in the morning. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were really nice. If you're after a relaxing place, Palazzo domanto is a good fit.
