Hotel La Mirandola

Even on foggy, snowy days, the staff's friendly approach made our trip so much better. Kevin and Mateo deserve a special mention as the two best waiters, real classy gentlemen. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and polite, with a touch of class. The hotel is super cozy, the spa is brilliant, and the FOOD was delicious.

Our dinner at the restaurant in Hotel La Mirandola was a letdown, so I'm writing a review even though I rarely do. It was advertised as a gourmet chef dinner for 46 euros per person, but what arrived was basic hotel food, the same kind served to hotel residents, and not the culinary experience we'd expected. We also expected a curated wine pairing, but had to pour our own wine. When we pointed out that the food didn't match the menu, we were rather dismissively told, "the menu was wrong." Several dishes went untouched because they weren't to our taste, and nobody asked why or checked on the food. For a dinner that promised so much, the experience delivered very little.

The building had lovely character, especially the stone ceilings on the ground floor and in the restaurant. We enjoyed the spa after skiing, and the evening meals were well cooked three-course dinners that changed each day. We stayed for a week in late January on a snowboarding trip. The location suited us: a short walk to the piste, where you can ski down to the lift, though the hotel is about a 20-minute walk from the main town. A shuttle goes to and from certain spots in town. The continental breakfast was the same each morning, with no cooked choices apart from a boiled egg. A few more hot options would have been nice. The rooms are basic, with rather hard beds, poor-quality pillows, and very small shower cubicles. There's no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the shared areas. Even so, we enjoyed our stay.

I don't spend much time in hotels. I mainly need warmth, hot water, and cleanliness, and this place did well on those basics. The staff were very nice and helpful, the food was fantastic, and the hotel is in a very nice location. The things I'd improve are Wi-Fi in every room and a basic tea and coffee setup in the rooms.
