A cozy, lovely place.

The room itself wasn’t unattractive, but our stay was the worst overnight experience we had in Italy. We arrived in Altamura after 10 a.m. on a cold, rainy day. I’d asked ahead whether we could leave our bags or check if the room was ready, and was told it was “no problem.” After that, we heard nothing. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., my child and I had to walk around town in the rain with all our luggage. The weather alone wouldn’t have been an issue, since we could have sat in a café, but carrying suitcases made sightseeing stressful and meant we couldn’t easily go into a restaurant or stay anywhere long. We tried the mobile number, WhatsApp, and Booking messages several times, with no reply. Even a Booking.com consultant using the priority phone line couldn’t reach the property. I was told that if nobody answered by 4 p.m., Booking.com would start looking for another room because they had no way to contact the host. If their priority support couldn’t get through, what’s a guest supposed to do without that option? The reception was listed as available, but it was closed and nobody was there. This felt like a complete lack of access and responsibility. We remember Altamura as hours of walking around with bags in the rain and going into restaurants with our suitcases like homeless people. We travel a lot and have never had anything like this happen. Based on our experience, I can’t recommend the place.
