Hotel Negritella

The hotel is right in Passo Tonale’s town centre, and the location made a good base for the week. The ski room is large, well kept, and open 24/7, with the nearest lifts a short 500 m walk away. The spa runs daily from 1600-1900 and has a jacuzzi hot tub, sauna, and steam rooms. It felt too crowded on both of my visits, and I couldn’t see any booking system. Reservations might improve the experience for everyone. I stayed six days in room 206 at Albergo Negritella. My twin room had one large bed as requested, made from two joined beds, and the mattress was comfortable but on the firm side. The pillows were flat and didn’t offer much support. The bedroom and ensuite bathroom were clean. The bathroom was otherwise acceptable, but the shower screen was cracked and coming off its hinges, and a bulb was missing above the mirror. On my first morning, housekeeping came into the room without knocking and woke me. It was below average and led to an awkward moment with the maid seeing me scantily clad. I didn’t need further housekeeping by personal preference. Others in my party reported inconsistent service, especially towels that were clearly soiled and only sporadically replaced. Staff had limited English, but did their best to help. I appreciated that they brought a plate of food to my room after I returned in the small hours from the local emergency department following a dear friend’s traumatic injury. My room rate included half board. I didn’t try breakfast myself, but was reliably told it was an adequate continental spread with bacon and eggs. Dinner was average, though there was plenty of food and service was attentive. Staff sometimes seemed exasperated, perhaps because the dinner booking form could be laid out better. The stay was perfectly average, which seems fair for its three stars.

We stayed six nights at this fantastic family-run Albergo, just a short walk from the slopes and lifts at Passo Tonale. The food was second to none, with very traditional Italian cuisine. Staff and owners were all friendly and helpful, and the owners were always around to deal with any questions.

The spa area was really nice. The food could have been a bit better, and the hotel was okay to stay in. I’d say it lived up to its 3-star rating.

We enjoyed our stay at this clean, very nice hotel close to the ski area. Breakfast was the one disappointment. It was the same every day, with no vegetables or fresh fruit.
