Hotel Colfosco

The staff were really friendly and helped with everything, and the breakfast had lots of choice and was very good. My room was comfortable and clean, and the price felt pretty good for what you get. I stayed one night after a motorbike accident so I could sort things out and get home. It’s in a good spot, with beautiful surroundings and lots of nice roads nearby. I’ll stay here again when I’m in the area.

The spa was amazing. Two people can go for an hour for $25, including a body scrub, face mask, and access to the pools. The slopes are close, and the lift is a 10-minute walk away. The staff were great, and the continental breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. It’s a charming place near the slopes. Just know that the pull-out bed was extremely uncomfortable for our group, while the master bed was very comfortable.

Dinner each night was hearty and nutritious, and breakfast had made-to-order eggs plus everything you’d expect from a standard European breakfast. The food matched a 3-star hotel, and having breakfast and dinner included was a real bonus. We’d checked beforehand that this applied whether we ate there or not. After tiring ski days, it was easy to head downstairs for dinner, and sitting by the same mostly family crowd each night helped us meet people who are now friends. This was our first time skiing in Europe, and it turned out to be a fun, authentic family resort experience. The staff were the best part. Each evening, we were greeted with news of the family entertainment downstairs. The front desk was also very helpful with the spa, ski lockers, directions, and room heating. The location is excellent, across the street from the ski bus stop and a two-minute walk from downtown, with great views. We’d definitely return if we go back to Europe.

The town is wonderful and the ski slopes are fantastic, but I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. The mattresses felt as hard as wooden boards, and I wouldn’t trust what the receptionist says or any smile they give you. We told them along the way that we didn’t want to use dinner in the future, but nobody said we’d still have to pay for it. We only found that out on the last day, when they charged us for dinner for all six days. The customer service was extremely poor. Dinner was inedible: cheese and canned mushrooms to start, instant powdered soup, then tasteless overcooked spinach that we couldn't identify, with overcooked pasta. The sausage was so bad I wouldn't give it to my dog, and the dessert was coated in myrrh. Breakfast was poor and endlessly repetitive, with lots of pre-packed and frozen pastries, instant coffee, and no fresh, healthy, nutritious food. No trace of Italian hospitality.
