Dinner turned into a lovely memory. Anelissa and her husband surprised us with a concert on piano and harp, both played beautifully. Before that, we enjoyed their four-course Chef Special with wine pairing at a white-clothed table. My husband and I were there for one night during a drive around North Italy. The owners clearly put care into the place, from the quality of the bedding and services to the plentiful, delicious breakfast. We’d definitely stop again if we’re in the area.

The restaurant food was delightful, and the rooms felt cosy and warm. This family-run hotel was spotless, and the people running it were extremely friendly and welcoming. One of the most heartwarming places I’ve stayed.

We ended up staying a second night because we enjoyed the cooking so much. The tasting menu with local wines was a highlight, and the next evening we chose the chef’s surprise selection. I loved the gnocci with lavender, I’d never known lavender was edible. Chef Roberto clearly comes up with fresh, interesting ideas. After dinner, if Team A&R aren’t too tired, they may play a little piano and harp. They were professional musicians when they were younger. Thanks for two wonderful evenings of food, wine, and music. We’ll be back one day. Cividale del Friuli is only 20 minutes away and made for a great day trip. The owners, Annaliesa and Roberto, were among the most welcoming hosts we met on our trip. Have an aperitivo in the courtyard before dinner. The building may look like an old farmhouse or wine store from outside, but it’s been fully renovated and has great rooms.

The owners are wonderful, though similar money can get you a better hotel. The rooms felt a little small, the breakfast choices were limited, and the place is somewhat out of the way.
