Rifugio Alpino Fazzon

The location is handy, with parking and Lago dei Caprioli nearby, but you can also reach it on foot along several trails from Pellizzano and other nearby towns. I’d avoid bringing the car if possible, so the little village doesn’t get clogged up. We had lunch, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious: the tortei, caponata, and tagliatelle with ragù were all among the best. The Torta Fazzon was excellent too.

The food was a real highlight: golden potato tortei, fragrant dumplings in broth, and a rich polenta with stew, mushrooms, and sausage. The desserts were superb too, especially for a Tyrolean snack with strauben and Kaiserschmarrn. Portions are generous, ingredients feel authentic, and prices are fair. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and friendly. Rifugio Fazzon sits in a green valley at about 1,280m, just 400m from Lago dei Caprioli, surrounded by woods and the mountains of the Adamello Group. There’s free reserved parking, with step-by-step barrier-free access for people with reduced mobility. The walk around the lake is an easy 1 km or so, roughly 20 minutes, on gravel and dirt. It has little bridges, picnic spots, and fountains, and works for families and children. From Pellizzano, the themed Sentiero degli Gnomi leads to the lake with wooden sculptures and a fairytale feel. A light hike followed by traditional food makes a lovely day out for families, couples, or anyone wanting an authentic Val di Sole experience. I’d happily come back.

There were ten of us, and we all tried different dishes. Every one was fabulous, and the food here is sublime. The staff were incredibly kind too. Definitely worth a visit, and compliments to them.

Even with lots of people around, it stays peaceful, and the staff are really friendly. The food is excellent, and the desserts are sublime. Five of us ordered different ones so we could all have a taste. The Fazzon cake with cream and apples was exceptional. It’s a lovely place to eat just a few minutes from Lago dei Caprioli, with excellent value in line with local prices. I highly recommend it.
