Perugia has steep streets and plenty of stairs, so comfortable shoes are a must. Italian women around town are often stylish and well-groomed, which might inspire you to dress up a little, but keep it comfortable. For church visits, cover your shoulders and knees. The upper town feels like a different world. Its old streets, monuments, viewpoints, little shops, and local restaurants have a lovely old-time atmosphere. After 8:00 PM, people fill the streets to chat, eat, and have wine or Aperol. Find a pub, order local meats and cheeses, try the bread with olive oil, and take your time. Down by the train and bus stations, it feels more like a bigger city. The area can feel less welcoming after dark, with crowded parks, people sleeping on benches, and many immigrants around, which may be intimidating if you’re walking back late. It’s also the main transport hub, though, with good rail links to other cities and a convenient, atmospheric mini metro. The ticket machines are easy to use. Keep an eye out for last-minute platform changes, since information can show up just before departure. The ticket office can mean a line and a slow wait, as the saying goes, “that’s the Italian mentality, no one’s in a hurry.” 😄 A few other things: restaurant menus are mostly in Italian. They may ask if you want one in English, but it isn’t always available. Staff don’t seem to rush, so be patient. Wine and Aperol are a safe bet, while the beer is pretty weak but manageable 😁. Drivers can do as they please and may ignore pedestrians, signs, and traffic rules, so watch out. Perugia isn’t quite the idyllic, peaceful postcard version of Italy some people expect. It’s a city split between its lower and upper parts. Have a great time ❤️

Right in the center of Perugia, the place is ideal for a family or even a larger group, with lots of room and views over the city. It was spotless and well organized, and the services were excellent. The reception was super friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely come back.

Getting around was easy, with independent access and all the amenities close by. The place was clean, and the hospitality was excellent.
