Domus Volumnia Country House

We had a peaceful, relaxing stay at this quiet hotel, with stunning views. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. It's a family-run place, and they're lovely people who are always busy keeping everything looking its best, especially the garden. We visited outside the summer season, so the restaurant and bar were closed. Reception staff could still get us drinks while they were on duty. For getting around, having a car would be handy, though taxis are easy to book through an app. We'd definitely return for another restful break.

The hillside setting has magnificent views, and the grounds are lovely, with plenty of spots to sit and unwind. It’s a special country house. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, the staff are friendly and helpful, and breakfast is delicious. I highly recommend this gem!

We spent a whole day unwinding by the pool, with coffee or drinks from the little pool bar. Breakfast came with the stay every day, and the staff were always glad to help, including with ideas for things to do and places to eat. The service was wonderful, and we felt very looked after. The grounds are even lovelier than the photos suggest, with jasmine everywhere and a peaceful view. The outdoor dining area looked gorgeous for sunset, though the restaurant wasn't open for dinner yet when we visited. It's only about a five-minute drive from town, but the property sits on a main road. That wasn't a deal breaker, though next time I'd ask for a room or suite facing the pool or the view. Our room looked onto hills and greenery, which was lovely, but headlights and traffic sounds woke me a few times. I'm a lighter sleeper than most, so it was a small issue for me. The AC was pleasant and helped cover some of the noise. I'd come back and recommend it.

We got around without a rental car, taking the nearby bus into Perugia, though it doesn't run very often, and a taxi back for about €20. The hotel shuttle to the train station was especially easy. We loved our four nights in July. The room had plenty of space, comfortable beds, and great air conditioning. Breakfast at Domus Volumnia each morning had lots to choose from, including coffee and cappuccino. We also ate at the restaurant twice and thought both the food and service were great. Everyone was lovely, from the very helpful English-speaking man at reception to the two men at the pool bar and restaurant. Dedil was particularly friendly and helpful. The pool was a highlight, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Non-guests can use it too, but we never struggled to find chairs or room in the water. We'd happily recommend a stay.
