Breakfast was delicious, with a good selection, and the room was lovely. The TV was slow, though, and the channels were in a random order. Parking is behind the hotel, in the small lot with the large barrier just off the roundabout. It isn’t clearly signposted and looks like it belongs to the office behind the barrier, but it’s for the hotel. I had two complaints. The Do Not Disturb setting is on a digital panel, but it resets when you take the room key out. So if you go out with your keycard, the maid service can still come in and clean. They should bring back door hangers or fix the system so it remembers your setting while you’re away. Also, a couple of staff members, who I assume were waiters or cleaners, pushed past us at the lift and took it to our floor first. When we asked about it, they were quite rude and said they had to go down first and we should wait. That surprised me because the desk staff were all lovely. Hopefully it was a one-off. It wouldn’t keep us from staying again, but the hotel should know.

I want to mention Michele, the young man who helped me today. He was so kind. They say you never know when you might be entertaining an angel, and a good measure of happiness will come your way. I wish him every happiness in life for what he did for me today. That’s hospitality. He really showed it.

All 12 of us were staying at Sangallo, including friends, and we had a wonderful three-night stay in Italy. The only thing that fell short of the rest was the view from the window, as you can see here. Everything else was excellent.

The breakfast buffet had lots of choice and was very good. The hotel restaurant was also excellent, probably the best hotel restaurant I’ve ever been to.

The hotel is just outside town, so it’s away from the noise but still only a five-minute ride into the main city. The escalator ride has beautiful, breathtaking views and feels like a museum, and there are great shops up there. The hotel was luxurious, with little touches like LED bathroom lighting and great showers. Service was great too, with cleaners checking in around the hotel and attentive front office staff. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, definitely five stars.
