The advertised five-star rating felt misleading, and I found the place overpriced. There are unpleasant eyesores around the building: the entrance faces a derelict building, which is what you see when leaving or looking out the window. Inside, some walkways and stairs are damaged, and old cars are parked right outside. I wasn't given any information about the sun umbrellas, loungers, and beach chairs that booking.com advertised as included. The attractive-looking health facilities are down in a gloomy basement. There are no signs on the doors, so you have to check each room, and there’s no automatic lighting. I shouldn’t have to ask someone at the desk for that. Friends of mine stayed at similarly priced three- and four-star hotels and had much better experiences. Other guests in the elevator brought up the same concerns I’ve listed here.

The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful, and the hotel is right by the beach. It has an old-fashioned charm, even if it seems a little worn compared with its heyday. You leave your key at reception, like in an old movie.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but I was so disappointed as a tourist that I had to this time. They call it a five-star hotel, but it doesn’t come close. The place is run-down and ancient, and it looks like it hasn’t been renovated in probably 100 years. The rooms smelled strongly of alcohol and mold. Do yourself a favor and save your money, there are much better hotels to choose from.

We slept comfortably, and having a spa tub was a nice bonus. The pool was a treat too. It’s an older building, which is part of its appeal, and the location is perfect. Our air conditioning wasn’t the best, but we could leave the window open and get a decent breeze. The staff were friendly.

There’s no sea view, despite the hotel being on the beach side, but it’s only a short walk to the city center and its many fancy shops. It’s an old-style hotel. Breakfast finishes at 9, and you need to get there early because the buffet is only partly replenished. The bacon and eggs are gone much sooner. Parking is very limited on the narrow streets nearby. We booked a four-bed room, but got a king-size bed plus two extra beds, leaving the rest of the room’s furniture out in the hallway.
