BB Azzurra

B&B Azzurra is a house on a large estate with lemon trees and vines, outside Pescara, so you’ll need GPS to find it. The room was comfortable and the bathroom clean, though despite being new, the room needs repairs in a few spots. There’s a shared kitchen outside the room, also used by guests in another room. Breakfast came in a basket: two small bottles of water, two packaged croissants, some cookies, and tea or coffee bags to prepare in a machine. The fridge was empty. The owner’s attitude toward guests felt like, “take the keys and don’t disturb me, I don’t want to know you.” We spent 15 days traveling around Italy and stayed at 12 hotels. All had a private room and bathroom, breakfast, and parking. I can’t forget two four-star hotels in Salerno and Bologna, with full service and generous breakfasts for 50 euros a night. I also have to mention the best accommodation in Siena, a villa filled and decorated with works of art in every corner. It had an amazing antique bed, the best mattress of all the places we stayed, and a generous breakfast lovingly prepared by the owner, with great music and candles on the table, for 57 euros a night. I’m judging B&B Azzurra against those 12 stays, including the three best I mentioned. It would feel disrespectful to rate it higher than the three places that won my heart. If this stay hadn’t been so cheap, I’d have given it a lower rating.

We had such a peaceful stay in the countryside. The owners made a real effort to welcome us, and their hospitality was lovely. The accommodation was clean and spacious, with kitchen facilities. I’m grateful for their kindness and really enjoyed our stay.

Breakfast was very poor. The machine didn’t have the right coffee capsules, and there were capsules left in it by trial guests before us. That was disgusting.

The yard was amazing and very well kept. Everything was clean, and the hosts were great. I highly recommend it.
