Camping Royal

The view was great, and the winding road is no reason to be put off. I just wish the shower water had been hotter.

We had such a great time here. Our cabin was clean and nice, with a view, and we were close to the lake as well as some unique towns and delicious restaurants. The owners were awesome about our small dog, and they have a little dog themselves. In summer there’s a bar beside the small but perfect new pool. The kids loved having a clean, refreshing swim. It’s a simple place, but it suited us perfectly. Turns out it was lucky the lakeside pitches were already booked!

The campground was already full when we arrived after calling ahead, following a long day when things had gone wrong with our motorhome. The owner improvised a spot and let us stay anyway. That’s hospitality with a capital H. The facilities are great, the location is beautiful, and the coffee was perfect.

We came for the first time with friends who'd been here several times and couldn't stop talking about it. Now I understand why. It's a lovely place, the staff are super friendly, and the facilities are fine. The view over lago d'Orta and the surrounding mountains is stunning. The site sits up a hill on a small, winding road, so be careful if you have a large vehicle. There’s a big Conad supermarket at the foot of the hill for groceries. A lovely, peaceful holiday in beautiful Italy. Highly recommended.
