Hotel Ristorante Madonna della Neve

We'd seen some bad reviews and felt a bit unsure about dinner, but we had a lovely meal. The staff were friendly and smiling, and even welcomed our excitable young dog. Our pizza and tiramasu were delicious. We'd recommend it.

The starter was good, but the main courses were poor. My friend’s fish had no taste, and when she mentioned it, no one did anything or even apologized. Then we spotted unexplained extra charges on the bill, 1,50 added for each of us, and some menu prices had gone up. We paid 92€. Ridiculous. Don’t go here. At first we were told we’d have to wait 30 minutes to order, so I asked the woman to write down my name while we went for a drink at the campsite. Suddenly, we were allowed to sit down straight away.

Breakfast was fine, though there wasn’t much imagination to it, and the restaurant dinners were reasonable. The hotel itself was fairly nice but basic. Our room’s internet was slow and kept dropping out, and often we couldn’t connect at all. When we told management, they brushed us off, blamed the wind, and said to try again in an hour, even though the connection worked elsewhere in the hotel.

The desserts were so good they’re worth ordering even if you’re not especially hungry. We also had the seasonal slow-braised pork knuckle, which came with a rich meat jus, grilled vegetables, sautéed potatoes, and fresh sage. Magnificent. The tasting platter was packed with Piedmont specialities, and the tomino cheese really stood out. It’s a lovely restaurant with a charming terrace on the edge of this hilltop village. Every dish we tried was full of flavor. Highly recommended.
