Dimora Antica Pianella

A fantastic place with fantastic staff. You get a medieval atmosphere while still feeling safe and surrounded by very friendly people.

It’s ancient, beautiful, and comfortable. Highly recommend it!

Friendly people, and exactly what we needed.

The balcony view at breakfast was stunning. I could have sat there all day. Gabriele was the real star too, welcoming, friendly, accommodating, and fluent in English. He even gave me a thoughtful little booklet about Pianella. I spent my last two nights in Pianella at Dimora Antica as a solo traveller from London. It felt like really good value. The place is in the oldest part of town, full of character, with restaurants and bars within walking distance. For what I needed, a clean room, comfortable bed, hot shower, and toilet, it ticked every box. The pool area was temporarily closed while the poolside flooring was being renovated. Since my stay was short and I was busy most of the time, that didn’t affect my experience. You could still see it would normally be a lovely space, with sunbeds and outdoor seating. Breakfast was simple but perfectly adequate for a short stay. The whole experience felt authentic, relaxed, and genuinely Italian. Wi-Fi was occasionally a little patchy in parts of the property, but I was happy using my mobile data. Pianella itself is beautiful and worth visiting. There’s restoration work underway throughout the area, with historic buildings and streets being carefully brought back to life. It feels peaceful, authentic, and full of traditional Italian character, without being overrun by tourism. The location’s convenient too: Abruzzo Airport and the beaches around Pescara are each about a 20-minute drive away. Gabriele can help with local transfers if needed. Would I stay again? Absolutely. Recommend it? Without hesitation. I’ll most certainly be bringing my family and friends over from the UK to stay and explore the area.
