The owners were so friendly and quick to respond, and we loved the apartment and its gardens. The cats were a cute bonus. Getting the bus into Bologna is easy if you’re without a car.

We had a clean, well-equipped apartment and didn’t find ourselves wanting for anything. Chiara kindly upgraded us, which we really appreciated. After busy days in Bologna, the pool was a lovely place for our family of four to unwind, and the green setting made for a restful stay. Breakfast was decent and enough for us for 7€ per person, with good coffee. We took the bus into the city, leaving our car at the station in Rastignano. The ride to Piazza Cavour took about 25 minutes, and Cremeria Cavour is just around the corner from there, with Piazza Maggiore a three-minute walk away. We’d love to come back to this little green retreat. All the best to Chiara and Federico!

The owner was genuinely kind, and the farmhouse itself is very beautiful. I spent one night in the quite nice annex. Breakfast was homemade and partly continental. My room or apartment didn’t have basics like shampoo and soap, though I’m not sure whether they were forgotten or simply not provided.

We used Il Cavicchio as our base for exploring Bologna, and it worked well. The city is nearby, with good bus connections, and there’s free parking by the bus stop. The gardens are lovely, and the pool is a nice extra. Our apartment had a good bed, a well-equipped bathroom and kitchenette, and generally good-quality facilities. We did miss having a side table. Bologna is a very interesting city, and we’d recommend staying at Il Cavicchio if you’re visiting.

The garden is beautiful, and Federico was the kindest, most professional host we’ve had in Italy. Such an amazing place.
