Torre di Renda

The location is beautiful, with a lovely view of Piazza Armerina. We had a very nice family room, and both the room and bathroom were clean. The kids enjoyed the pool. We stayed two nights with our family while visiting the villa and the temples at Agrigento. Dinner one evening was home cooked and really, really good. The portions were so generous we couldn't finish everything. Breakfast was nice too, with choices of different items, good coffee, and homemade sweets. We can recommend it!

The dogs are allowed to roam, so if dogs aren't your thing, you might want to avoid this place. An extra star for the service from the especially cuddly cat. The place's glory days seem long gone, and it badly needs renovation. In our room, the mosquito net was broken, and we ended up with an army of mosquitoes between the door and the net. You can feel every spring in the mattress, the shower head needs replacing or descaling, and the toilet seat was falling off. We ate dinner there too. It reminded me of “classic” UK dining: a salad of thick chunks of iceberg lettuce and red cabbage, overcooked duck and pasta, then strawberries in some strange red liquid. Very interesting. Breakfast was sparse, though you can get a Nespresso cappuccino, which I'm sure most Italians would be ashamed of.

The owner was very nice and helpful, and we'd be happy to come back with my wife for a quiet, relaxing holiday. It's a pleasant, secluded place in the mountains. The rooms are nice, though the bathrooms need an upgrade. The food is very good, and breakfast is normal.

The owners are very friendly, and I liked the dogs and cat as part of the country estate atmosphere. It's a spacious hotel among the woods and hills near Piazza Ameriana, with extra residential buildings, a banquet hall, a wedding chapel, and a pool. Breakfast is in the banquet hall. You can also sign up for a prix fixe dinner, which is a good option if you don't want to drive out through the woods to the densely built-up town, with its narrow lanes and limited parking. The multi-course dinner is very good. I enjoyed the place a lot and would have stayed another night if I could.
