Hotel San Gregorio

We'd gladly return. The service was warm, the parking was large and free, and pets are welcome. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, with very fresh croissants and good coffee. Our suite was spacious and very clean, with nice linens and a whirlpool tub. The location in Pienza was excellent.

The location was good, and the restaurant was just okay: friendly service, ordinary food. But the room was awful for what this hotel costs. It was dated, with old, worn furniture and flying bugs. There were no blankets, even though it was 12C outside at night, and we couldn't get the room warmer. We had to bundle up to sleep. Definitely not worth the price.

The pool area was the biggest letdown, as my photos show. Breakfast was good, but for such an expensive hotel, I don't think the stay was worth the money. We spent one night two nights ago. Our first room looked dim and tired, and when we asked to cancel, staff said that wasn't possible because we'd booked through booking.com, and there were no other rooms. After dinner, a staff member told us another room had opened up. As a goodwill gesture they offered free parking, though we'd already parked for free, or a drink in the restaurant. The replacement room was the same layout but yellow and brighter. Its shower wouldn't give a full spray, and the towel had small holes. The staff member who showed us the room was polite.

The staff were fantastic across the board, from the owners and front desk to housekeeping and the restaurant team. Dinner was delicious and very reasonably priced, and breakfast brought a good spread, fresh fruit each day, and good coffee. Our room and bathroom were large, clean, and comfortable. The pool looked nice, though we only used it once because the weather wasn't very warm. The hotel is in a great spot, just across the street from beautiful historic Pienza. I'd recommend it if you're spending a few days exploring Tuscany.
