L'Arcadia

The host was a peasant. When we asked about water, she said we could drink from the tap. If we tried to say we weren't happy, she smiled and told us to go ahead and complain. She said little else besides charging us. We learned a big lesson: DON'T EVER COME, EVERYONE!! We paid €117 a night and got almost nothing. The house is over 200 years old and smelled moldy. There’s no lift, so you have to carry your luggage upstairs yourself. There was no aircon and the lighting wasn't proper. The bed was a small double, not queen size, and the mattress made loud noises when we moved. The furniture looked fourth or fifth hand, old and shaky. There was no drinking water, mug, or kettle in the room, so no way to get water or make tea in the middle of the night. No shampoo or shower gel in the bathroom either, just a tiny soap smaller than a butter cube for two people. There was nothing else in the room and no service.

The buffet breakfast had plenty of local delicacies, and every request we made was handled straight away. The staff were attentive, and the room was spacious and bright, with a modern bathroom, large shower, TV, and a very comfortable bed. The building was clean and well maintained, with parking on site. We couldn't use the big outdoor garden because of the rain. It was handy having the "Locanda di Bruno" in the same building for dinner, but remember to book well ahead. We found L’Arcadia by chance while looking for somewhere Saturday night before going to the Viareggio Carnival on Sunday. Thanks so much for everything. Highly recommended, we'll definitely come back.

Breakfast in the beautiful garden was a lovely way to start the day. The hotel was quiet and very clean, with stylish furnishings. The owners were friendly and attentive. We stayed three nights.
