The grounds look lovely from the outside, and there’s a pool, but getting to use it was frustrating. It finally opened for us, then closed at 6pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays the locals fill the area, with little priority given to guests renting rooms. The restaurant gets crowded with locals too. Even though we were staying there, we were told it was at capacity and had to find somewhere else to eat. They also cut off the hot water for showers, so we had to find someone because the water was freezing. The locals were very loud and obnoxious.

The rooms could use some improvement inside, but the place is well maintained and has parking. We stayed five days for a trip around the Amalfi coast, and breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and varied, served from 8am. They made a vegetarian option when we asked. The woman at reception and in the restaurant was great, too.

The town felt calm and welcoming, and we enjoyed wandering its lively, colorful markets and picturesque streets. People we met were friendly and often shared sightseeing and dining suggestions, so each day brought another chance to experience local life. The community's warmth made up for the occasional difficulty communicating. Our hotel was clean and welcoming, with a family feel. The food was excellent and served late, which suited us since we often got back after tours and exploring nearby towns. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. It was too cold to swim, but the pool looked lovely lit up at night. Staff spoke limited English, yet they kept trying to communicate and help. Getting around was manageable despite being away from central areas. The hotel is 12 miles from Castel del Monte, and trains to Sorrento were convenient and affordable. A nearby shop had essentials like water, fresh coffee, espresso, and beer, and the attendant was helpful and spoke English well. We did have a small travel mishap when my companion and I missed our bus stop. We couldn't get an Uber in the area, but a local man kindly gave us a ride without asking for anything. He was especially concerned when he realized we were tourists. At the stop, several women also helped us understand the bus system and gave us useful tips about the app. I left feeling grateful for the people who made the visit memorable.

A charming, unpretentious place tucked into the hills, with genuine local food, staff, and prices that were amazing. The pool is lovely and open to locals, but they manage the numbers, so it wasn't a problem. It's also well placed for Naples, Sorrento, and Amalfi. I'd happily stay again.
