Hotel La Scogliera

We only stayed here briefly on our road trip, and for the low price it worked out okay. The location is amazing, right on the beach, and the pizza we had for dinner was delicious. The staff were the best part: very friendly, spoke English, and clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. The hotel has the makings of a real gem, but the rooms need investment. Ours was quite small and not very clean, and the bathroom was outdated and also not very clean.

It’s a small-town Sicilian hotel, so it felt a bit old and tired compared with the 5* places I usually end up in 😁 Still, the location is very nice, it’s clean, the staff are friendly, and the food is good. So it’s fine!

Look for a hotel in Capo DOrlando. I arrived at the train station and waited two hours for a taxi, but it never came. There’s no transportation, and the hotel isn’t in Capo D Orlando. I couldn’t find a way to get there without a car. It felt worse than the Middle Ages. I had to take the train back to Catania. Impossible to reach, and a horrible experience. I don’t recommend this hotel.

Thank god we’re home. The beds were so bumpy they dug into my hips, and you need a car to do literally anything. We paid extra for a sea-view room, but the next room was so close they could see in, even to the mirror, so we had to keep the shutters down. They were still charging more for it, and we could hear the train even from the sea-view rooms. The description was very deceitful. They advertise a private beach and show a picture of a luxury sun bed, but what they have is tatty old deck chairs and no sun beds. Breakfast was disgusting: packets of dried bread, some jam tart type of cake, basic cereal, a coffee machine, and one croissant each as if that were a luxury. They put this hotel at two stars at most.
