AC Hotel Pisa by Marriott

There was plenty of free parking, including an electric car charging port, which was really handy. The room was clean and comfortable, though it didn't feel as new as the other AC Hotel where we'd stayed. The bathroom door faced the bed, a bit of an odd layout 😅. Breakfast was decent. I was surprised there wasn't any Parma ham, especially with Parma not far from Pisa. It could've been a nice way to show support for regional products 😃.

Andrea at reception was very friendly, and the room was nice and clean. Breakfast got a bit chaotic with so many people, but they got things back to normal quickly. I chose the place partly because of all the free parking, and I'd come back.

For 245€/night, the room was hot and the corridor was noisy. We were three crew members in three different rooms, and all of us heard doors slamming from early morning. The air conditioning kept blowing hot air whatever we selected on the control panel.

After nearly 30 hours of travel, we ate and went to bed, then woke up in a warm room because the AC wasn't working. We tried adjusting it and ended up opening the window. The next day we reported it to the front desk. The person there was pleasant, but the hotel sent no note, call, or text afterward. The room itself was in poor shape: masking tape held the bathroom electrical plug in the wall, a wire was exposed under the mirror, and the blackout curtain had holes. When we came back that afternoon without having heard anything, we said we'd have to check out if the problem wasn't fixed. Still, nobody contacted us. At checkout the next morning, the front desk manager said we'd be charged for four more days, and claimed the AC was working, just wired backwards like most room controls. Apparently we were meant to know that setting it to heat would give us AC. Seriously, you can't make this up. I raised the complaint with Marriott corporate, and the manager misrepresented the control and said it worked properly. I have over 1500 nights with Marriott and had never escalated a complaint to corporate before. I even sent pictures because I couldn't believe this was a Marriott property.
