B&B Gioia

I chose this place because it's close to Pisa International Airport, and the location turned out to be very nice. My single room had a double bed, and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was and how welcoming the decor felt. Having an en-suite bathroom added to its charm. We stopped for one night before catching the ferry from Livorno. For the price, it was comfortable and I recommend it. The beds were quite comfortable, and the place was clean and quiet. It's 3 km from the Piazza dei Miracoli. We left at 6:00, so I can't say anything about breakfast.

The ladies were kind and attentive, and there was a beautiful garden that I imagine they look after while handling the organization and cleaning. The room itself was clean and tidy, but the TV sat on the closet unplugged, and the hair dryer didn't work. We didn't bring those up after already having a disagreement about the air conditioning, so we borrowed one from our friends in the next room. Check-in was slow, as if nobody was ready for us, even though we'd called and booked days in advance. We'd booked two rooms with air conditioning, but were given neither, with the explanation that other guests had received the air-conditioned rooms. They offered coffee, juice and a croissant to make up for it. I thought breakfast should be included in a B&B, but it was an extra charge, though perhaps I didn't realize that could happen. There should be a reception area where room assignments can be checked against reservations. Maintenance needs attention too, including the door handles, which looked ready to fall off.

The cleanliness was top-notch, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. I stayed two nights while visiting Lucca Comics and Games and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and tastefully furnished the rooms were. It made my stay really pleasant. I'll definitely come back.
