Casa San Tommaso

This was by far the worst accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. I paid €110 for one night, which felt completely outrageous for a dark, moldy attic with cockroaches. The only thing it has going for it is the location; everything else felt like a tourist trap. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The room looked nothing like the online photos. It was a tiny, closed attic space with a low roof, so you had to bend down to avoid hitting your head. Old wood covered the walls and ceiling, with spider webs everywhere, and the floor smelled rotten and moldy. There was no proper window, just a small bathroom-style skylight, and the stale smell hit me as soon as I walked in. After I showered, water leaked and made the smell worse. The bed was two cheap single beds pushed together, squeaky and extremely uncomfortable. The lighting was poor, the room was dark, and the air conditioner only blew air without any temperature control. The service was just as bad. On arrival, the receptionist ignored me for several minutes while finishing a personal phone call. When I came back at 22:40, the main door was locked. I knocked several times without an answer, then called the hotel number. A helpful woman on the phone gave me the code, which I’d forgotten to write down earlier. Only then did I realize the receptionist had been sitting there the whole time, ignoring me. The smell became unbearable overnight. In the morning, before checking out early for my flight, I found a cockroach on the floor. That was the last straw.
