La Lu Cozy Rooms

I never got to see the room, so I can’t comment on it. We had booked one night in August through our travel agent, then arrived and realized I’d missed an email sent in the previous 24 hours. That was my fault for not reading the fine print. There was no way to contact the owner: we called the number outside the door and even asked some locals to try in case it was our phones. We emailed our travel agent, but it was the middle of the night in Australia, so we had to find somewhere else to stay. Our agent somehow saw the email and reached the owner, but by then we’d arranged other accommodation. I understand self check-in, since we’d used it at a few other places in Europe. What I don’t understand is running a business without a contact number for all the things that might go wrong. The owner did later contact me through WhatsApp, so the claim that there was no reception isn’t right. He blamed us and our travel agent. After I got home, I spoke with the agent and learned he’d also been extremely rude to her. I found the whole thing very unprofessional and would never advise anyone I know to stay there.

It’s cozy and clean, though a bit small, and very close to the Pisa Tower and the main attraction. Wi-Fi is free, and you can use Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube too.

The room is comfortable and well kept, and the location works really well for seeing many of the main tourist attractions. Parking is unpredictable unless you use a parking lot. One thing to know: what’s called the second floor is actually the third floor, which is common in Italy because the first floor is zero. I highly recommend the place, but there are stairs.

Restaurants, bars, and everything else are close by, and the railway station is a 20-minute walk. The hotel is clean and welcoming, with lots of character. Great location, and I’d stay again.
