Hotel Pisa Tower Plaza

The pool area has a bar for refreshments, which is nice after a day of sightseeing or for a day of sunbathing. Prices at the restaurant and bars were reasonable, and I think the hotel is good value for money. The leaning tower is a 15 minute walk away, and you can see it from the lobby. It could benefit from having someone make runs to the center at a good price. The place isn’t in tip-top shape and could use maintenance. The AC control is unreadable. Our room’s AC started leaking at 10pm, just before bed, and they moved us to a room with noisy AC instead. There was also a sewage smell in the shower. Still, the important things worked: hot water in the shower, clean rooms and toilet, and nice beds.

All the staff were lovely, but the hotel felt understaffed and in need of some care. We paid around €140 for the room 5 months ahead, then saw it could’ve been €85 for the same room the day before, which was frustrating. Our room and other parts of the hotel needed maintenance. The bed and sofa were nice, but most of the room looked untidy. The shower seemed to be missing a piece of the drain section and needed a deep clean. The balcony door was hard to shut, which also worried me a little from a security perspective. The room seemed clean, but the balcony needed a good sweep and deep clean, so we didn’t use it. The AC seemed to work only in the entrance area, not the bedroom. I really don’t understand how this is advertised as a 5 star hotel. I’ve only stayed in 4 star places or lower, and this felt like 3 star at best. Our actual room looked much less nice than the photos.

There are lots of events at the hotel, so it can be noisy sometimes. It’s also not very central. You have to walk 25 min to find and store, or 30 to the Pisa tower. For a small town, it’s overpriced. The service wasn’t very good, and breakfast is run by a separate company. It was good, but there was a queue for the coffee machine, and sometimes there was little or no fruit. The rooms were comfortable, though some small details needed attention.
