Relais dei Mercanti B&B and Suites

Our flight was delayed and we missed the last train from Pisa airport, so we were relieved when the host checked in with us and sent clear instructions for getting into the room. We were also glad to find complimentary snacks and fruit to keep body and soul together. The room was large and cool, with wooden shutters that blocked out the morning sun completely. There was plenty of hot water in the nice shower, and lots of towels. The room was restocked each day and the staff were very friendly. The location is perfect, tucked into the narrow streets of the old town.

We stayed at Relais dei Mercanti B&B and Suites in the heart of Pisa’s historic center. The decor felt warm and personal, more like staying at a relative’s home than a typical chain hotel. It’s easy to explore the city on foot from this central spot and take in Pisa’s charm.

The location is superb, in a lovely historic building with quiet rooms that get completely dark when the shutters are closed. The air conditioning worked well too, and it was perfect for our long weekend in Pisa. It’s a very small hotel, just seven rooms plus an entrance hall room. There’s no restaurant or meals provided, but plenty of restaurants are nearby. The manager was able to provide a basic continental breakfast in our room each day for free, which worked well for our stay.

We booked five of the six rooms in this very nice apartment, and all of them were spacious. The owner sent us lots of information, recommendations and instructions before we arrived. It’s in a lovely area with plenty of restaurants. Getting a taxi on departure day wasn’t easy. We had to walk to the train station to find one.
