B&B Villa Soriano

The room had filled up with mosquitoes because the windows had been left open all day before we arrived. The shower was also falling apart. The lady was lovely, though.

Pretty good.

The only thing going for it was that the center was about 10 minutes away, with one turn, and there was a good 24-hour pizzeria on the way. Everything else was awful. We booked the best room, but the shower door and holder were broken, there was black mold, and the headboard felt scary to touch. Cleaning seemed limited to the middle corners, with dust clouds on the lamps. Some lamps had been torn out, most of the walls were peeling, the balcony was a mess, and the former classroom courtyard shared with another house had weeds up to waist height. There was construction material in the pool, and mosquitoes all over our room. Parking only fit four cars. The breakfast room had no power and a hole in the wall; breakfast was one croissant, old cookies, moldy juice, and other things like that. This was on June 2, a week before the season started. Worst hotel of all my years of traveling.

The Villa is a useful base for the city center, and Central Station is just 50 meters away, near a kiosk. We were in room 105, which was quite nice. Breakfast was basic but tolerable: croissant, toast, marmalade, melted cheese and ham, juice, coffee, yogurt, and cereal. The room got noisy because the window wouldn't shut properly, and in early October what seemed like a side street turned into a stream of cars passing and screeching in the morning. There were also bathroom flaws and unwashed silicone seals that you might miss if you didn't look closely. I'd recommend it to people without very high expectations who mainly want a decent night's sleep.
