B&B Marconi

I booked two nights, from August 11th to 13th, 2020, but left after the first and didn't sleep a wink. I paid for both nights and received no refund. The owners were rude and aggressive when I politely raised the problems the next morning, made excuses, and offered no solution or accommodation for what I considered legitimate needs. They acted as if I should simply accept the room or leave. Later, after I contacted Booking.com to complain, the owner called and insulted me. The treatment was hostile and uncivil, and the managers came across as ignorant and arrogant. They demanded payment up front in cash, and even breakfast was sparse, served only from 8 to 9 in a shared space without proper social distancing. I skipped it after the way I'd been treated. The room was in a dilapidated ground-floor building facing the street, in a place with no sanitation. Mold covered several parts of the walls and the paint was peeling. One outlet was loose, another had an uncovered triple socket with metal parts sticking out and exposed wires, and both the fridge and air conditioning were plugged into it. Other outlets were loose and faulty too. The shower was broken, with a flimsy curtain marked by odd stains and rust on the curtain and fixtures. There was no Wi-Fi, the TV didn't work, and my phone had no signal in the room. It had no proper windows, just a tiny one with an even smaller curtain facing the neighboring street. The musty smell got into my throat and head, and the air conditioner kept making a ticking sound when it reached temperature, waking me up. I was also told breakfast was in a different building. The owner’s father was a boor, and the owner, his son, seemed to mistake politeness for fear. I kept my cool, but their behavior could have ended badly. This place isn't worth it. Stay away.

The room was clean and spacious, but that was about the only good part of our one-night stay. There was no soap, shampoo, or hair dryer, service was basically absent, and the reception was rude. During Covid, the owner served breakfast in the building without wearing a mask, and the rules were ignored. The price was high, card payment wasn't available, and I'd avoid the place.

As someone from Puglia, I'm sorry to say that if they want tourists, they need to change how they do things. The room was spacious and clean, but we had a cold shower because the boiler was off, the air conditioning was off too, and the power went out twice. Our room was in a separate building from breakfast, in an area we only later learned was closed to traffic in the evening. Breakfast was poor, COVID measures weren't followed, and payment, including the tourist tax, was cash only. The receipt had no sequential number, so it seemed worthless. Whenever we asked something, we were told, "this is a B&B, not a hotel." That attitude won't make people want to return. The world is changing, and they should too instead of assuming people are naive.

A complete nightmare, with rundown rooms and people straight out of a Neapolitan comedy. It felt like a scam. Absolutely avoid.
