Palazzo Scolari B&B

The town’s old Tower ringing in the morning, a hearty breakfast by the fire, and the nearby river all made the stay feel like a glimpse of Italian life you don’t get in a big city. The host’s warmth and the friendliness of local people left me feeling welcome long after I’d gone. The antique furniture added to the charm, though it may not suit everyone. The rooms can be a little chilly in winter, and hot water in the shower takes a long time. The host’s English can be tricky, so Google Translate helps. She does her best to help in any way she can, and I felt special here despite the imperfections. I’m sure I’ll return with my partner for a more romantic weekend. There’s protected parking, but call ahead so the host can open the gate at the time you need. Parking isn’t available in town, and otherwise you may end up driving around until she gets back.

Such a lovely hidden find in a beautiful borgo. The hosts were excellent, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the rooms felt spacious and palatial. Loved staying here!

The palace has been magnificently restored and maintained, and inside there’s a distinctly Venetian Baroque feel. It would make a perfect backdrop for a romantic film. The terraced park climbs upward and gives you a fresh view of Polcenigo at each level, though parts of it are sometimes neglected. Highly recommend a romantic escape, or a visit during the summer opening hours.
