The restaurant service felt uneven and inattentive. Our glasses sat empty for 20 minutes, and the starters were held up because someone still had food from the amuse bouche on their plate, though they clearly hadn’t touched it for 35 minutes. Keeping water and wine off the table only works if staff notice when glasses need refilling. I was close to getting up and asking them to leave the water so I could pour it myself. The food was mixed. The culatello was predictably excellent, as was some of the pasta. But the “invention of ortaggi (vegetables)” was easily the worst dish I’ve had at a Michelin star restaurant. For nearly 40€, it was four small squirts of pumpkin paste in slightly different textures with a very over-acidic pickled carrot. It was presented as a main dish, even though it was literally much smaller than my starter, while my family had pheasant and fish. It felt insultingly thoughtless and reflected poorly on the kitchen. The hotel also had a string of problems during our two nights and three days. The WiFi didn’t work at all for me or my family in two other rooms, though it was better in the restaurant. Several minibar bottles had already been opened and partly consumed. I found 2-3 stinkbugs in the room each night, and a leak under the washbasin kept the bathroom floor wet. Staff apologized when I told them, but didn’t fix it. I got a shaving kit on the first day and none after that. These problems might be forgivable at a humble, rustic farm BnB. But the place is presented and priced as a luxury experience, and the price is extremely high and unjustified for what you get. It feels like a humble trattoria reaching far beyond its abilities.

We stayed three nights in November 2025, and the visit was mediocre at best. The setting and building are beautiful, and most of the front desk staff were kind and helpful. They answered questions, arranged a few lunch and dinner reservations nearby, and tried to sort out the room problems. Still, we wouldn’t recommend staying here. Our standard room, the Abati/Abbot’s Room, was basic and not very clean or well maintained. There were cobwebs around the shower in easy-to-reach spots and dirt and grime on the windowsills. The shower leaked every time, flooding the bathroom floor, so we used several towels each day to dry it. The front desk knew and gave us fresh towels, but as far as we know, no maintenance worker came to repair it. With only 2-3 other guests there during our three days, offering us another room would have made a difference. The safe didn’t work either, and they brought a replacement only on our last day. Hospitality was inconsistent from the start. The person checking us in only mentioned the breakfast hours and didn’t explain the hotel or its services. That may have been a language barrier, since we don’t speak Italian. Although several people were at the desk, nobody offered to help with our bags. The parking lot is a few minutes’ walk from check-in along a gravel road, and our room was three flights of stairs up. Around a day into the stay, we noticed what looked like a service elevator, but nobody had said whether guests could use it. We’d also told management twice before arriving that we were celebrating a special occasion, and they didn’t acknowledge it at all. That would have been an easy way to make the stay feel special.

What made dinner unforgettable was the service as much as the outstanding food. It started with a fascinating tour through the cellar, where hundreds of Culatello hams were hanging to age. The sight and aroma have stayed with us. The hotel is in a stunning setting, with a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. Every room has its own character, and the whole place makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the moment.

We stayed two nights at ACP, and it really left a mark on our hearts and palates. The service was great all around, and the restaurant was stellar, no pun intended. It’s a truly unique place and a must-try for pork lovers from across the globe.

The farm has a rustic, back-in-time feel, which we loved. If that sort of atmosphere isn’t for you, this place probably isn’t either. Culatello is everywhere, and that’s a big part of why you’re here. We ate at both restaurants, and the Michelin star restaurant was absolutely worth it and great value. Great place, great food. We’ll go back!
