There was loud music from somewhere nearby on some nights, but the room kept the sound out really well. Even so, this was a perfect stay. The place is spotlessly clean and so gorgeous, romantic, and quaint, from the room to the lovely pool and beautiful surroundings. The kind, generous people who run it did everything to make us feel at home. It’s in a great spot for exploring Puglia and Basilicata. I’d recommend it to anyone I know and love. I only ate there, and the food was very good.

We were there for five hours, with lunch and then a few hours in the pool. Our three boys loved it, we loved it, and everyone left happy and very full! We came for Sunday lunch yesterday and found the atmosphere relaxed and the welcome really friendly. The local food was excellent. When the third course arrived, the boys were desperate to get into the pool, so they went while we finished the rest of the meal.

The place is lovely, peaceful, and in an amazing location. We enjoyed the menu, especially the antipasto, which was a delicious mix, and everything was very reasonably priced. We left with 10 liters of their own olive oil.

The owners are a super friendly couple who run this family estate together, and they also put on birthday dinners and weddings. The place is quite laid-back and has been in the family for generations. High-season prices are rather steep, though the strategic location makes them understandable. We enjoyed dinner on the lawn under fairy lights, and breakfast extras like toast and scrambled eggs that we could order. Our upstairs room had a huge terrace and a bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and amazing acoustics. The pool is divine for a morning or evening dip, or for spending a whole day there. Masseria del Crocifisso felt like a lovely pocket of fresh air above Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. It’s also very close to Alberobello and Castelllana Grotte.
