There was a very strong, unpleasant smell of feces inside the apartment, and I couldn't sleep. A trash bin right outside also smelled strongly, mostly of cigarettes. The table outside was covered in black dust, so I had to clean it before using it; the windows were dirty too, and the overall cleanliness needed work. There were so many mosquitoes that I was badly bitten all over by the next day. Breakfast came without anyone checking my preferences. I'd asked for espresso but got moka pot coffee that tasted poor, and I was given one piece of bread and had to ask for more. The cleaning staff put my toothbrush somewhere unhygienic, which made me uncomfortable. No one was there at check-in, so I had to carry my own luggage. I contacted the host about my experience but got no reply, and nothing was done during my stay to improve things. I was hoping for a comfortable, welcoming visit, but left extremely dissatisfied and can't recommend the place.

Very clean, with a great breakfast and a handy location near the sites, grocery store, and restaurants. My single room was tiny, though, and the unnumbered doors made it possible to enter the wrong room at check-in. The manager wasn't very friendly, and hot water stopped working when the kitchen was using it. You can hear other guests coming and going, the trains passing, and the gate rolling open and shut.

The room was in rough shape, with just one working power point, a ceiling that looked unsafe, and a really strong sewage smell from the bathroom. The woman in charge was lovely and made a nice breakfast, and it's quite close to one of the entrances to Pompei. Still, I wouldn't recommend it because of the condition of the accommodation itself.

The hosts were very accommodating and breakfast was delicious. We only stayed one night and wished we could've stayed longer. One thing, don't believe anyone saying it's a ten minute walk. Pulling luggage, it takes thirty minutes for sure. Get a taxi 🚕

Martina's warm welcome and all her tips for nearby villages and restaurants made our three days at La Casa di Plinio feel special. We went in early January to see Pompei and the neighbourhoods, after a friend recommended the place. The room was spacious and had what we needed without being cluttered. Everything was clean, and breakfast with local products was lovely. We also had a guided tour arranged through the beautiful scavi di Pompei. Thank you for the real Italian hospitality. We'll be back!
