O Sole Mio Pompei

Amy at reception was very helpful. We were on the ground floor and had an outside area, though the rooms facing the back didn’t have balconies. There’s a pool across the road that could use some care, plus a vending machine with beer, water, and nuts. The room had a fridge and that was about it, so we bought plastic utensils. The bed mattress was bad, though the pullout bed was better. It’s about a seven-minute walk to the main square and restaurants, far enough away to avoid the noise of the main area.

The garden and pool looked nice, though we didn’t have time to use them. Staff were friendly and booked a taxi transfer for us. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable, with good beds, and made a handy base for Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Vesuvius. The kitchen had a big fridge freezer and enough basic supplies, but could use a bread knife, chopping board, and kettle.

Anna, her sister, and little Lola were so generous and welcoming. They even brought us fresh, hot coffee when we arrived, and that kindness was a real highlight of our trip. Both rooms we booked were clean, fresh, and nicely prepared. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot and soothing. We cooked our own Italian dinner in the kitchen, which saved us a night out. There’s a small pool, fruit trees, and flowers in the garden, and the off-street parking felt safe and secluded. The doors have very heavy locks, so we slept peacefully. It’s a bit of a walk to Pompeii, but we didn’t mind, since town is close and has plenty of restaurants and shops. Quiet and tucked away, yet near town, with clean, comfortable rooms at a good price.

Anna was the heart of our visit. She’s the proprietor and the 'Nonna', and we all loved her. She kept offering coffee and brought so much warmth and Italian hospitality to our stay. The place itself was modern, very clean, and spacious, with great facilities. We stayed one night as a family of four while visiting the Pompei archaeological site, but I could have stayed longer. The pool is small, as expected, but it was great for cooling off and the kids loved it. Its lovely garden area felt like an oasis away from the busy streets. I’d highly recommend it.
