We left within half an hour. Inside, the room was damp and dark, the air conditioner had burned out, the sink was blocked, and the kitchen tap didn't work. It was far from everything else and nothing like the listing. Getting there was frightening too. The hotel was boarded up when we arrived, and a text from an unknown number told us to meet a man somewhere else. A man on a moped then made us walk 30 minutes in the intense heat to a random apartment. He was extremely rude and frightened the woman travelling with us. The worst part was losing our money. Booking.com tried to recover it because of a breach of the terms and conditions, but Terra Mia refused. Charlatans. Awful experience. As seasoned travellers, I urge you not to book here. Avoid it, honestly.

We had two rooms, and mine was great. Our group did the hostel-family setup, with a queen bed and bunk beds together, plus a private bathroom and a small, fairly well-stocked kitchen. It was comfortable enough for tired walkers to get a good night's sleep. The shower was properly hot, which was a bonus. The room was basic but good value, and we enjoyed our one night at Terra Mia. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Each guest gets a pastry, so with seven of us there was quite a selection, along with juice, cereal, toast and jam, and more. We found very few places open for lunch on Mother's Day, so we bought food at the store and ate in our room. Later we went out for pizza at a really good place whose name I can't remember. The pizza and potato wedges, or fries, were really good. This place is definitely more suited to eating out, even though it has a kitchen. There were plates and forks but no salt or pepper. We made do with what we bought, but the watermelon at the market looked tempting and then proved hard to cut without a knife. The location was fairly easy to reach since we were walking everywhere, less than half a mile from the bus station. We walked from Terra Mia to Pompeii too. You do a lot of walking in Europe, and there were interesting booths along the way. Some of the decor might not be for younger eyes. Check-in was old-school and difficult. We had to wait for someone to come open the room and check us in. They did let us leave our bags before and after checkout, which was nice. It was a bit of a throwback, though some other places were similar. Being able to leave the bags and find food saved us from a disaster. The people above us were apparently very heavy-footed on the final night and kept us awake until the early hours. It could also be noisy in the room beside the kitchen.

We found this place and don't regret it. The Italian owner greeted us and was so kind. He even used Google translate so we could understand each other. Our room was clean and spacious, and the price was reasonable. I'd recommend giving it a try.

Raffaele and his stall get a perfect 10 from me. The rooms are updated and kept clean, and the integrated card system operates all the entry doors, making the property feel very secure. Raffaele is pleasant, greets me, and makes me coffee when we happen to meet. It's super convenient, and I'd stay here again.

We'd stay here again. The room is basic but good value, with a nice hot tub, small TV, decent Wi-Fi, good shower, and air conditioning up to a good standard. The fridge is bigger than usual, which came in handy. There's also a communal kitchen, and the building feels secure. Restaurants, cafes, and food shops are a short walk away, and the ruins are 15 minutes on foot. Breakfast is basic each morning. A fruit option each day would be nice. A few things could be better. We arrived at 3pm as arranged, but the owner wasn't there, so we called and waited 5-10 minutes. Once he arrived he was friendly and helpful through a translator app, and gave us his number so we could message on WhatsApp if needed. Our room was entered for cleaning even though we had the 'do not disturb' sign on the handle. It could get noisy in the room next to the kitchen, and on the last night the people above us seemed very heavy-footed, walking around until the early hours. Checkout at 10am also feels too early. I'd rate it 4/5.
