Pensione Sant'Angela

We came for dinner and had a wonderful meal. The large fireplace room feels intimate and genuine, and the place has real soul. The owner was kind and helpful. We also asked to look at a room for a possible future stay, it was clean, spacious, well-maintained, and welcoming despite being a modest guesthouse. The prices are excellent.

The location is excellent, a full 10 out of 10. We spent two nights here, four adults and two children, in one double and one quadruple room. Our room was spacious and had an en-suite bathroom, plus a second connecting room for my daughters. But the room hadn’t been cleaned and the beds weren’t made, which brought my rating down to 3. The building is old, and some shared bathrooms are always in view of guests. The waiter deserved a 5 for service, but charging 5 euros for a plate of cooked food to make toast at breakfast felt excessive. Breakfast was sparse: packaged biscuits, toast, Nutella, jam, sliced bread, and good brioches, but only one per person. Our half-board booking included the chef’s choice, which was canederli and tomino cheese in our case. We chose from the à la carte menu instead, which was moderately expensive. It’s a one-star guesthouse, so I wasn’t expecting luxury or a spa. Still, a few small things mean I’m unlikely to return.

We’ll definitely come back. The trattoria serves excellent traditional mountain food like pizzoccheri and canederli, with an emphasis on local ingredients, and the value for money was unbeatable for the area and season. It’s a beautiful, clean, welcoming property with Wi-Fi throughout, and after dinner you can have a drink in the spacious fireplace room. The location is excellent, in the pedestrian area right across from the wooden bridge. Public parking is nearby, and it’s convenient for driving to Ponte di Legno and Tonale, the main ski resorts.

The guesthouse was warm and welcoming, and I really didn’t feel I was missing anything. The staff paid close attention to what guests needed and were always helpful. Rooms were very clean, the atmosphere felt like family, and the cooking was excellent. There’s a good range of local and other dishes, plus the daily and tourist menus. The value is especially good if you want to order à la carte. Thanks for everything, I’ll definitely be back.
