Casa Landino sits in what has to be the most picturesque part of Pratovecchio's old center. This little apartment feels like a lovely nest, and owner Rossella pays attention to every small detail to help guests feel at home. The name comes from a legend that philosopher Cristoforo and his painter nephew Jacopo Landino spent their early years in these rooms, once part of an old monastery and, before that, a Romanesque church. There are five sleeping spots in this wood-lined home, with wonderful light from the skylight. The kitchen has all the tools you need, and there's a nice bathroom with a shower, a bedroom, and a loft with a sofa bed. A large library is available too. The only break in the quiet through the day is the little church bells announcing vespers and Mass.

I'm staying with a friend who lives next door, so I haven't been inside the B&B. From outside, there's a lovely square with really pretty arcades.
