Hotel Plazza

The room was clean and plenty big enough, and getting to downtown Lucca took about 20 minutes. It’s a simple, pleasant hotel, and the woman at reception welcomed us warmly, with a nice Italian accent. Check-in was easy. The A/C worked okay. In the morning the hot water stopped working, but we called reception and it was sorted within three minutes. The man at the front desk was also very helpful when we needed to rearrange our booking. Breakfast was nothing special, though that was what we expected. All in all, we had a good stay.

The service was great, and the breakfast they gave us for free was really good. Booking a room was quite cheap, too. If I visit Pisa again, I’ll definitely stay here.

Our room was a good size and clean, and the hotel seemed fairly new or recently renovated. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was an option for free parking, and breakfast was available. There’s also a restaurant next to the hotel.

I was very disappointed by how Hotel Plazza handled my reservation. Giada at reception told me on the phone that a room was available for 24-29 September, so I gave my credit card details right away as a guarantee. Soon after, the hotel sent a WhatsApp message thanking me for the card details and saying an official email confirmation would follow. Between that message and the phone call, I thought the booking was secured. More than five hours later, though, the email I received was from Matteo saying the hotel was “fully booked” on 25 September and couldn’t accept my booking. When I challenged this, they said only an email counted as confirmation, and treated both the call and WhatsApp message as meaningless. I found this misleading and unprofessional. They asked for and accepted my card details, then acknowledged them in writing on WhatsApp, before denying the booking hours later. Based on my experience, I’d urge future travelers to be cautious, since the reservation process didn’t feel transparent or responsible.
