The place had just been renovated at the end of 2025, and it made a great first impression on me. Breakfast was good, with items ordered from the à la carte menu included.

The staff have been friendly and welcoming every time I’ve stayed, and the location is great for exploring town. Breakfast is menu service, and I’d prefer a buffet since it’s hard to tell exactly what you’ll get and the portions are small. The bigger issue for me is the A/C. I’ve stayed three times in summer and it barely worked each time. I think the controls are fixed, so you can’t adjust the temperature. On this latest visit it seemed completely out and blew slightly warm air. With outdoor temperatures around 36-38°C, that wasn’t comfortable.

The room was a good size, and the bathroom was nice, clean, and bright. The hair dryer was excellent, even had a diffuser. I do like this hotel, but the parking needs sorting out. There aren’t many spaces in the private lot, and you need your room key to get in. There’s nowhere temporary to stop while checking in and picking up the key.

The hotel staff were absolutely amazing, though I have mixed feelings about the place. The room and facilities didn’t feel worth the price, so I’ll probably look at another hotel next time I’m in the area. It’s well placed, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and station. Parking is about 200m away and paid through the hotel, or you can use free or paid spaces on nearby streets. There are three spots right outside for unloading luggage, with a 20-minute limit.

I used to like this hotel and had stayed there several times while attending the Le Giornate del Cinema Muto film festival. You can see my positive reviews from earlier years below. This time, my sister was due to arrive a few days after me. I was curating a film program and had a screening around the time she was expected, about 11pm, so I asked the desk in advance what she’d need for check-in while I was away. Management assured me she only needed her passport and my room number. That night, while I was watching the film I’d brought to the Festival, my sister called and messaged repeatedly from reception, begging for help. She said the overnight desk manager yelled at her as soon as she entered and threatened to throw her out into the rain and call the police. I was stunned and left the screening halfway through. I found her crying while the manager was on the phone. As I came into the lobby, he said “passaporto ucraino” into the phone. When I asked what was happening, he ignored me and kept talking. He only hung up and listened after I raised my voice. He couldn’t explain why he had treated her so rudely. He said he didn’t know she was related to me, as though that would make the treatment acceptable if she weren’t my sister. We were both shocked, and I hurried her up to the room because she couldn’t stop crying. The screening and the whole Festival were irretrievably spoiled for me. Over the next three days, neither the overnight manager nor the hotel’s chief executive tried to apologize. A day shift manager eventually said sorry to me, but not to my sister, who was sitting next to me at breakfast. A few days later I met with the chief executive. He already knew what had happened. When I asked him to hold the overnight manager accountable, he said plainly that he wouldn’t. He was defiant and told me that in almost 20 years working there, this person had behaved like that only four or five times. He said he didn’t know why, then added, “If you want me to choose between your sister and my manager, I will choose the latter.” Calling that client-oriented is an understatement. The manager’s discriminatory behavior had happened many times, yet he had kept his job for years. The executive kept saying the manager was “protecting our clients’ peace,” as if my sister and I weren’t clients. He also falsely claimed my sister’s family name differed from mine by one letter, and said that was why the manager had made a “mistake.” When I asked, he reluctantly admitted that the manager probably wouldn’t have acted so rudely if my sister had a French or German passport. I can’t find another word for this policy but racism. My sister only received an apology in a written letter after that meeting. We were still charged the full amount at checkout. The hotel manager’s racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic behavior went unpunished, and the executive seemed to side with him and cover for him in every way. After speaking with my lawyer, I intend to sue the hotel and seek compensation for the moral harm caused to us, at our own expense.
